The BIG Pitch

Hello everyone.
wow, been aaaaaaages ago since last update.
it shows that we are really busy!

well, can we skipped about our progress from preview session till the big pitch?
cause we are here to talk about our big pitch! wooooot! =D (+ and another reason because there are so many things that we did during that period of time, and we can't remember most of it anymore --;)

The Big Pitch was on 27 November 2010 at Multipurpose Hall, Sunway College.
It started at 9.30am till 2.30pm

So what happened on that big day was.
We arrived there around 7.45-ish
And start to decorate our booth.
All teams booth looks great and unique. :)

And around 9.30 guests start to come and fill up the hall.
We were all nervous and yet excited! Couldn't wait to meet up with the guests.

The big pitch started with Team Call 21, then Go Get It.
Then it was brunch, the food was nice, especially the blueberry cheese tart.
But I (Fatin) couldn't eat anything, cause I got butterfly in my stomach.
Why? it was our turn to present after the brunch! *dup dap dup dap..

After brunch, it is the time! For us to present!
We were given 15 minutes to present and 8 minutes Q&A session.
Fatin starts the speech, then it was Amirul turn.
And voila. Done!
 Then the qna session. and alhamdullilah, it turned out well.
We were nervous, but everything gone smoothly. :)

What a good experience.
imagine. talking to like 100 people, and all of them looking at you.. o.o
gosh, sure did, it level up our confidence. :)

then it was MKey turns to present.
Then after that.. all the guests mingle around at all of the booths.
asking questions, giving opinion.. etc

We would like to thank you to all of the guests that came to our booth.
Asking questions and giving their opinions on our business idea. Thank YOU!

And BIG thanks to our investors that invest in our business idea.
InsyaAllah we would try our best to make our business idea becomes a reality!

And not forgetting to our 4 helpers! that take care of our booth. Thanks guys!

Preview Session 2

Hi everyone,
Well some update here.
We came earlier to get some advice from UV for our slide (big pitch)..
Actually, only Amirul that discussed with UV because Fatin and Hafiz came late.

So today we present our idea again.
But this time only Fatin, Amirul and Hafiz that present.

Well everything went well, way better than the last preview.
And we hope we can improve our presentation day by day! :)

We will be meeting UV again tomorrow at 2pm. to discuss more on our slide.

working hard

hi everyone.
well today, Fatin & Amirul met up at Fatin's house and trying to create our big pitch slide.
Syed couldn't come because he suspected denggi, and Hafiz is still at Perak.

so, what we did today was list out all things that we need to do and complete by tomorrow!
and here are the list

Well that are things that we need to finished ASAP.
After all the hard work, we almost finish our big pitch slide.
All that need to complete is the financial statement
We are having some problems in deciding the costs. but we will get help! :)

long time no see :D

assalammualaikum and hello to everyone.
gosh, it had been ages since the blog was updated.

sorry for the troublesome and for the late update.
we were busy with exams last time, and now busy with the preparation for big pitch!

well let's return back to last month activities.

1. photo session

we had our photo session on 1st October at Neo Studio
we had so much fun! need to senyum nmpk gigi, serious and etc.
we felt like we are a superstar! after the session, Eric shown us the pictures, it was fantastic! superb!
sadly, Fatin missed her Hari Kecermelangan Fakulti Perakaunan due to the traffic jam.
Whatever it is it was a fun experience! We enjoyed ourselves!

2. create & edit our proposal to UiTM

due to exams and limited time. after discussing with UV, we would asked a corporate sponsorship from UiTM. thus, we created our proposal to UiTM.. and we asked UV for his opinion.. and voila, it's done!

3. appointment

Fatin had called for so many times to make an appointment with our VC.
Now we know! it is hard to make an appointment. The tip is to keep updating and just keep calling them until they know it is you.
Thats what Fatin had experienced.
She called the office and said "Assalammualaikum, saya Fatin Hanani.."
And the secretary replied "oh ye, pasal YES tu yee.. your appointment is at.."
Fatin felt proud because of that. (Hehe)

4. meeting with VC

at 9.00am the office called Fatin and said "Fatin, sorry.. Dato busy hari ni. Jadi can you see Dr.Suhaimi instead?"
well, that was a bad news. after  all the hardwork making calls etc.. suddenly, the day of appointment, what happened? it changed.. well what can we do? we have to face it right? that is the real business world.
you cannot expect everything went smoothly right?

so. we met Prof. Sr. Ir. Dr. Suhaimi Abdul Talib (Asst. Vice-Chancellor (UiTM Puncak Alam & Puncak Perdana Campus))
he told us that we can asked either from HEA or HEP for some sponsorship..
thus, after meeting with him we straightly went to HEA and HEP.
we met Dr. Azni and Dato' Dr. Abdullah
to short it, we were a bit dissapointed because we heard that we cannot use the money because of it is a business. and uitm is not allowed to invest or give money for any type of business.. ~

  5. meeting UV

we met UV few days after the meeting with deputy VC.
we told UV our progress. and about the not so good news.
UV said, well thats okay. thats how the business world really work. we want you to feel the rejection.
after had long discussion with UV, we agreed that now we have to focus on our exam. then after the exam focus on YES.

well thats the end of our progress. because after the meeting with UV, we focus on our exam.
we do not want to success in non-academic activities only. we want both!
we want to be excellent in both. academic and non academic.  :)

Top 5!

hi everyone.
sorry again for the late update.
too busy with assignments and tests!!

actually we have lots of things to say.
but let kept it short.

We are in the Top 5!!!
Wheeeeee!!! ~

On the day of judging session, we were second team to present. It last for 10 minutes.
And the Q&A was really.. how do you? scary?? well not really scary, just that from all questions it made us thought a lot of things. It make us thinking that there are still so many things to do.

Anyway, well last Wednesday, there were brienfing by UV about the Big Pitch.
Well, what can we say? So many things to do!
Like what UV said, we had to do it yesterday not tomorrow. meaning need to do it ASAP.

well. We better think from now (yesterday) about events or activities that we can do to earn $$..

thats all from us. better get moving!! :)

opps!

opps! it had been a long time since the last update.
sorry for the late update.
we were busy holiday-ing and raya-ing. :)

well, here are some "late" update.
firstly, there were briefing session at MoneyTree Academy on 15 Sept by Yu Vee
the briefing was about YES 3 Judging Session.

and secondly, the next session will be on this Saturday!
here are the details on the Judging Session:

  • Event: Maybank MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES3) Challenge - Judging Session
  • Date: 25th September 2010 (Saturday)
  • Time: 9.30 am - 3.30 pm (Lunch/Intermission Break will be from 12-12.45pm)
  • Venue: Plenary Theater, Monash University, Sunway Campus
  • Dress Code: Business Wear

Well, goodluck to us and to all other 12 teams!
Oh! We also have to sent our guest list by this Wednesday and Short summary by Thursday.

And this is the best part.... are you ready???
Well..guess what!! We are the first team that will present on that day!! o.o
Sooooooooooooooo goodluck and all the best to us! :)


P/s - this time, it will be a 10 minutes presentation and 8 minutes Q&A. Really tough! And this time there are voting by the guest! huuu we feels like we are in a reality tv show! and not only that, the results will be announced on that day too!!
seriously, memg reality tv show. except, without the tv (it is real!). heee ~

we made it!


as you all know,
the results for groups that will go through the next session is today. (8th September)

after all the long hours of waiting for the email from Jo,
finally the announce began.

and pooof! one of it is..

well, we made it to the next round! really couldn't believe it.
hopefully this time we will be stronger!
it doesn't really matter who win or lose, the most important thing is the experience that we get.
well i heard the next round will be on 18th?? wow, that next week!
and i dont even know what to do? o:

whatever it is, thank you to all of our families, friends, and moneytree for all the support!!
and of course to all my team mates. we did it! we better do it better next time!
we prove it that eventhough we only have 1 week, we can still do the best! :)

tomorrow!!

Today report!

Well, today, we did our slide and 2 mins speech.
Also the short summary.
Hopefully everything turns out well!

I do not know what to say or write anymore! Speechless! Writeless!  =S

Will be held from 9am till 5pm at Taylor's College.

the exec. summary

Wednesday, McDonald's Sek 2, 10.00pm - 1.50am

hi, well let's continue our adventure!
we continue our executive summary after solat terawikh at McD.
we start writing the summary based on our brainstorming and our revenues calculation. not only the executive summary, we also create logo for our company.. oh, and also open up a facebook account to promote and get support from our friends! :)
and all of that took us almost 4 hours!
pheeew, done with the logo only that the summary have to be revised again.

Thursday, lecture's room 814, 12.00pm - 1.30pm

we finalise our summary.. make some changes etc etc then poof! the executive summary is done!
oh, remember the support letter that we suppose to get it by today?
well actually, when we called kak Fidah, she said that she did not received any email from us! we were gobsmacked! so we sent the email again to her, but sadly, she informed us that she got problem in access the email aka the server was down. so there you go.. :/
she did said to sent it to her by person, but we can't cause we did not print the letter and we had lectures at 2 till 6 pm. so, the solution was, just let it go. =/ too bad. but it is a good lesson for us too..

 we send the executive summary to Jo at 4.50pm! due to the internet problem and classes. thank God we still have time to sent it.. so it's done!

then at 11pm, we met again to review the 2 minutes speech and the slides after long discussion it went well. so now all we have to do is wait for tomorrow!

we are nervous, but we will do our best!! goodluck!! :)

the adventure begins!

1 Sept 2010, Wednesday, 12.20pm, Lab 4 Floor 4 SAAS Building

After the break for Merdeka, we met again and made up our mind to proceed with FutsalEx.
so, what we did was we brainstormed our idea.. on the 6 questions that we have to answer.
after long discussion, we made up our mind to try to collaborate with FAM (Football Association of Malaysia). If we can collaborate with FAM, it will be fantastic! it will be one of our barriers and advantage at the same time!  We want FAM to give us the intention/support letter.
So Hafiz called the hotline of FAM and FAM response. however, after long talk with the FAM, we were informed that if we want any support letter from FAM, it have to go process and accept by the president. And the process will take months! The latest that we can get it is after 1 month. Of course we want the letter by today or 2 Sept not after one month! so there you go, our plan flew off just like that.. too bad. because we know, if we get the support letter, it will be WOW! :)

then, our back up plan was to get a support letter from our VC. Dato' Sahol.
So off we go to the Chancellor building.. however (another sad story).. the PA said that we at least need a letter about this business idea if we want the VC to support. so there you go, another back up plan failed. it is our fault too, because "terjah" to meet VC. what to do, we only have 3 days left! huu~

but then the PA did said to meet Kak Fidah, PA for Dato Abdullah (Timb. Naib Canselor HEP)
similarly, kak Fidah said we atleast need a letter to inform about the plan.. so to solve it, kak Fidah give us a chance to write the letter and email it to her and get the letter by tomorrow.
So off we go to the library to write the letter and email it to her.. our problem solved!

and the time was already 5pm. So that ends the story for the day..
what a day! rushing from our faculty building to chancellor build then off went to library etc etc
but it is a good experience! that's all :)

First Brainstorming!!!!

30/8/2010, Monday, 12.45p.m, 1st Floor, DK1.

Today is our first meeting. We're working hard finding new ideas for our upcoming challenge this Saturday. Time constraint push our adrenaline to work harder. Although we are fasting, it is not an excuse from stopping us to fight and give our best.

3 ideas on the table:

2. FanElla
3. Futsal Ex

Yeah! 6 questions to be answered, and as expected, the barriers to entry is the hardest!!(i guess other groups faced the same problem too)

Go fellow mate!! Although we were short noticed (we thought the competition was on 24th September), we'll not give up!!! We'll prove that although it was last minute effort, we have the qualities and WIN!!!!

Hello!
We are one of group candidates in YES 3 Challenge.

We are accountancy student from UiTM Shah Alam.
Our group consists of 4 members and they are:

Muhammad Amirul Hafis
Mohammad Hafiz
Syed Qamarul Hikma

The reason that we join this YES Challenge is because of the RM20,000! (joke)
Our main reason to join YES is because we would like to have the experience and the knowledge.
We want to learn more about entrepreneurship.
By joining YES Challenge, we would get lots of knowledge that never being thaught in school or university. Not only that, we get the experience being interviewed by real people! What we mean is real investors, CEOs etc etc.
It is a one in a lifetime opportunity! So thanks to Money Tree and UiTM to provide this event! :D

It doesn't matter (well maybe it is matter) whether or not we win or not, the most important is that we get knowledge and experience! :)
